Granada UNESCO City of Literature at the Granada Book Fair 2022
Since 2015 the Granada UNESCO City of Literature Office supports significantly the Granada Book Fair, contributing to reinforce with authors of national and international prestige the cultural relevance of the Fair, promoting its internationalization through the figure of the UNESCO City of Literature as a Special Guest, and maintaining a constant support to local creators.
In 2022 the Office confirms its support for the 50 Granada Book Fair providing a set of activities such as readings or conversations. It is noteworthy, the collaboration (as in previous years) with the Centro Federico García Lorca in some of the activities, as well as institutions like Asociación del Diente del Oro and the Seat in Granada of the Escuela Lacaniana de Psicoanálisis and the Instituto del Campo Freudiano.
Following the positive experience of internationalization with Nottingham in 2019, the Book Fair takes up the role of the invited UNESCO City of Literature. This year the chosen city is Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia. Mateja Demsic, its councillor for culture, will attend the fair, as well as a large group of writers, including the poet Anja Golob, the philosopher Alenka Zupancic, the novelist and playwright Carlos Pascual, and the teacher and translator Mojca Medvedšek.
