(Lorca, 1968) has a degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Extension and Rural Development. He worked for fifteen years in Madrid in the audiovisual sector and in 2001, tired of life in the big city, he moved to the Granada town of Monachil, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, where he has lived ever since. There he has dedicated himself to farming, citizen activism and the environmental movement in Granada. After La tierra desnuda (Alfaguara, 2019), his first novel, Rafael Navarro de Castro publishes in Alianza Planeta invernadero.

This novel takes place during the year 2019 in the Poniente, a coastal territory covered with plastics, where Sara, an agronomist engineer from Madrid, decides to turn her life around before her fortieth birthday. Around her work, her conflicts, her contradictions, her desire to live and enjoy and her decisions, orbits a whole planet of workers in the shadows, unbridled economy, edible technologies, old farmers who miss their ancestral knowledge, young people who turn their backs to the future, and tomato plants that grow several centimeters a day and bear fruit throughout the year. Stories and characters that will change the reader’s way of seeing what he eats and eats and lives.
