Luis Muñoz at “Sábado en armas”
On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., a new session of the poetry reading series Sábado en armas will take place in the Workshop Room of the Federico García Lorca Center. This time, the event will feature the poet Luis Muñoz.

Sábado en armas is a monthly series of poetry readings held since 2022 at the Federico García Lorca Center, organized by Granada UNESCO City of Literature and the Diente de Oro Association.
Poets such as Chantal Maillard, Olvido García Valdés, Ángeles Mora, María Negroni, Andrés Neuman, Chus Pato, Aurora Luque, María Ángeles Pérez López, Berta García Faet, Isel Rivero, Luis Melgarejo, Rodrigo García Marina, Laura Rodríguez, Jairo García Jaramillo, Erika Martínez, Laura Ramos, and Lola Tórtola have participated in the series to date.
Luis Muñoz

Luis Muñoz (Granada, 1966) is the author of the poetry collections Septiembre (Hiperión, 1991), Manzanas amarillas (Hiperión, 1995), El apetito (Pre-Textos, 1998), Correspondencias (Visor, 2001) –included in Limpiar pescado. Poesía reunida (Visor, 2005)–, Querido silencio (Tusquets, 2008), Vecindad (Visor, 2018), Guadarrama –in dialogue with gouaches by Montse Lago– (Papeles mínimos, 2023), and Un momento (Visor, 2024). He has received the Ojo Crítico Award, the Generación del 27 Award, the Ciudad de Córdoba Award, and the Público Award. He is a professor at the University of Iowa, where he directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing in Spanish. He lives between Iowa and Madrid.
Ángeles Mora

Ángeles Mora (Rute, 1952) was awarded Spain’s National Poetry Prize and the National Critics’ Prize in 2016 for her poetry collection Ficciones para una autobiografía (Bartleby). She has lived in Granada since 1980, where she earned her degree in Hispanic Philology. Her first poetry book, Pensando que el camino iba derecho, was published in 1982, followed by La canción del olvido in 1985 and La guerra de los treinta años in 1989, which earned her the Rafael Alberti Poetry Prize. In 2000, she published Caligrafía de ayer, and in 2001, Contradicciones, pájaros (winner of the Ciudad de Melilla Prize), a book that was translated into Italian (Contraddizioni, uccelli, Edizioni dell’Orso, 2005). In 2008, she published Bajo la alfombra (Visor). Three anthologies of her work have been published: Antología poética (1982–1995), edited by Luis Muñoz (1995); ¿Las mujeres son mágicas?, with a foreword by Miguel Ángel García (2006); and La sal sobre la nieve. Antología poética 1982–2017, edited by Ioana Gruia (2017; expanded in a second edition in 2021). Her complete poetic works are collected in the volume Quién anda aquí. Poesía reunida 1982/2024 (Tusquets, 2024).
