Poetry Slam Granada 2024: Poets Wanted

With a 12-year tradition, Poetry Slam Granada is one of the longest-running venues in the Iberian Peninsula, and has produced poets such as Gata Cattana and Sergio Escribano.

As every year since 2021, Poetry Slam Granada joins the activities linked to the celebration of World Poetry Day proposed by Granada City of Literature Unesco, the Association of the Golden Tooth and the University of Granada.

In the 2024 edition, Poetry Slam Granada is organising a prologue activity to World Poetry Day, 21 March, on the Saturday before, 16 March, from 13:00 h, at the UGR Modern Languages Centre.

Under the slogan “Poets Wanted” and by means of an open call, ten poets will be invited to show their creations live in front of the public, who will have to decide which poet they like the most. Participation is open, so in addition to the poets on the circuit, new participants are expected. Each poet has three minutes, the texts must be their own and the use of props or musical instruments is not allowed.

Suso Sudón (Salamanca, 1986). Author of seven books (all self-published), he has recorded an album of music and poetry with Pedro Pastor and an EP of spoken word with the Umami Beat group. A graduate of the RESAD in Madrid, he combines his passion for acting with poetic writing, creating his own universe where words are transformed into action and emotion becomes a shared experience. His verses, direct and stark, are not afraid to bare the soul and stir consciences, inviting the audience to reflect on the world around us. A staunch defender of poetry as a public act, Suso Sudón actively participates in recitals, slams and poetry events all over the country, infecting the public with his enthusiasm and passion for the word.
