Marina Tapia, new literary resident in Óbidos 2023

The poet and visual artist Marina Tapia has been selected from among a dozen candidates to enjoy the sixth Literary Residency of an author from Granada in Óbidos (Portugal). After a hiatus in 2020 and 2021, last year saw the return of this residency, which in 2023 consolidates and stabilises its position as one of the international activities of Granada Unesco City of Literature, the international programme of Granada City Council’s Department of Culture.

The residency will take place during the whole month of October 2023 in the Portuguese town of Óbidos, which, together with Granada, is part of the UNESCO Cities of Literature Network. It is part of the joint project between Granada UNESCO City of Literature and Óbidos Villa Literária with the aim of promoting the internationalisation and exchange of our respective writers. The first materialisation of the project was two one-month literary residencies in Óbidos in April and October 2018, won by Begoña Callejón and Alejandro Pedregosa respectively. In April 2019 Juan Domingo Aguilar was the winner of the residency, Cristina Gálvez the beneficiary in October 2019 and Antonio Pomet in 2022.

During her stay in Óbidos, Marina Tapia will develop her new project, based on a solid work around visual poetry or concrete poetry. She will also be invited to perform a public event in Óbidos, as part of the FOLIO literary festival.
